Work
I have now become one of those people who when someone asks “what have you been up to” replies work. Which is quite sad, but I also get the same reply from most other people so I know I am not the only loser out there. On the subject of work, it has calmed down quite a bit, so I am no longer sitting in the toilets praying for a fire drill.
I am currently having an email fight with a guy in the New York office. But it doesn’t work like your usual email fight, because of the time delay. So I will send something like “David, I don’t understand what you are after. Perhaps you could make an effort to make your requests clearer in the future”, and then 24 hours later he will write back “Alison, you are already aware of the process. I don’t understand why you cannot follow it as requested” and then 24 hours later I will write back “David I cannot follow the process as it is archaic and doesn’t work for Australia. Our system is totally different to yours, a fact which you refuse to acknowledge”. 24 hours later “ Alison we have opened the job number for you as requested. Please note going forward this will not be the new process”. So basically we have been having this fight for 2 weeks now, when it should have taken two hours. I really hate him too, and therefore am very passive aggressive (for which email is one of the best mediums). I love to start an email to him “David, per my email of 2 weeks ago, this issue needs immediate attention”, especially when I didn’t send the first email. I am so petty.
