Lolly Pop

Strangely enough... my life is so boring that I feel I need to share it with everyone else.

Yes, I am still alive

Poor lollypop hasn't been getting much attention of late, I know I know. If it makes you feel any better, neither has anything else in my life but work. I feel like my friends will soon offically disown me, my family is at the point of holding an intervention and I only ever see C as we pass on the way to the shower in the morning. My most meaningful relationship at the moment is with my computer, and although I hear you all cry "you are a nerd, and that is nothing new", it actually sucks.

I have passed the point of being one of the those people who can only answer "working" to the question of "what have you been up to". I am now one of those people who cannot string a coherent sentence together. I can only talk and answer in acronyms and work speak. Here is a sample conversation that I have with C when I actually see him

C: When will you be home from work?
A: ASAP
C: What is for dinner?
A: Check the server, I mean cupboard
C: Can you cook for me?
A: NO, I CANT FUCKING COOK, I GOTA WEBSITE GOING LIVE IN 2 HOURS THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED AND THE BITCH FROM HR NEEDS ME TO 6 MONTHS OF TIMESHEETS BEFORE I LEAVE TONIGHT. I CANT COOK AS WELL.
C: Calm down I just want to see you.
A: Well, at this stage I could fit you in at about 9.45 for 20 mins.

Ok - so I also go a bit mental.

Friend of the week. Pete has offically been up for a month now and it is time for a change, especially as he didn't bring me the thing he was meant to today, and thus serverly disapointed me. However, it is hard to name friend of the week when you don't actually see any of them. So consider this promotion on hold until I actually get my life back.

Peter Novosel is Friend of the Week - kids get out your cowbell!!

Another week, another friend, and the big ones keep coming. This week it is Pete, who is a double whammy! Not only did he also help with my LAX Tournament (yes, ok I basically asked favours from everyone I know), working on it even when it meant he would have to work some of his holidays. But Pete is also my saviour at work, and knows when he really needs to get me out of the building before I stab someone in the neck. This is pretty impressive considering I hated him before he started here (childish I know but there a big freakin story behind it), and basically didn't talk to him for the first two weeks he worked at FCB. It was inevitable that I came around cos he is an awesome workmate and friend, and luckily he forgave me for being a little shit (or perhaps he didn't, and is secretly plotting my demise!?!?).

I know I already said it about Mel, but Pete is also amazingly talented in some many ways and I have no doubt that one day everyone will know it. Remember the name - one day your kids will be asking you about him!!

Pete - you are a total rock star and you are now also Friend of the Week!!

Ps. Love this pic - Pete and Charlie (who basically take turns to deal with my shit) drinking to get over the emotional stress of Ali. Love it!!

the shit is bananas B-A-N-A-N-A-S

Where would the blog be without the weekly netball wrap up? I know it is what you come for. Witty social commentary, thinly veiled snipes at workmates, friend of the week.... what are they compared to the netball?

So obviously it was another win this week. Very much helped along by the fact that Cam brought his awesome friend Nick along, and that the goal shooter for the other team had has gastro for the past 6 days. But dont let all that fool you - we are pretty good without all the extenuating circumstances.

Although, I have punched someone in the last two games - I am kinda heading back to the way I played with the Monkeys (yeah, ok, my teams names are kinda similar......). And the chick this week was not impressed at all - I got a "Jesus Christ" thrown in my direction. Oh well - winner are grinners!!!

What more is there to say - the Bananas are the shit so take a big whiff!

The Ultimate Alison......

So the other week I meet this girl called Alison (which annoyed me in the first place cos I like to be unique, however she was old like 28 and had brown hair, so we weren't too alike). So I mention to her that my friend had put on some weight (which I had previously told him to his face), and as soon as I left she ran and told him that I said he was fat! This is a pretty low act in my books. I know about it cos the guy himself told me (I need to cover myself here since she is a lawyer and obviously a bit nasty and I dont want to be sued for defamation, however I do know a good lawyer myself, so am not too worried).

I actually wasn't that suprised, because on the whole girls called Alison are kinda bitchy (hello - yes myself included. You are reading my bitchy blog remember!!). Every book, movie, real life the Alison is never the nice girl. She is the girl who steals the guy, crashes your car, starts a fire and then stabs you in the back. Luckily she is usually also hot (hello - yes myself included).

So I wanted to hold the Ultimate Alison competition, to find out who is the Ultimate Alison (which was clearly a rigged competition that was just going to prove that I am better than the brownhaired Alison). But I already have an ongoing promotion (Friends of the week), so didn't feel quite up to the preasure of keeping both going. However, I would like to hear if anyone knows of other bitchy Alisons - we all know they are out there. If you have stories email them to me - or if you dont know my address just post them in response.

"The only mistake I ever made was trusting you, you conniving bleach blonde piece of dirt "- Alison Parker (Melrose Place)

And fyi - I have never known another Alison that I liked.

Netball (yes again)

Ok, so this is a bit late in coming, but better late than you guys actually doing some real work and not wasting time here right?!?! I feel like i need to mention netball on tuesday, due to how freaking awesome we were. Not only was it like 39 degrees (so about 45 in the stadium), but we ended up only playing with 5 players. Although we didn't end up winning we only went down by 5! So well done Bananas - the GF is in sight. However, from the sounds of things most of the team is going to be OS at the time. So watch this space for netball tryouts in the next couple of weeks. Cryers and short poeple need not apply!!

Melissa Meehan WHOO HOOO!!!!! YEAH....

A new year, a new blog. I was actually thinking about shutting this one down, and moving to another one – more like a vlog. But then I was lazy and didn’t. Plus I know that my loyal readers (Em, Banner and Jane) would possibly have meltdowns (come on – you know you are addicted…..), so lollypop stays! Yay!!

So what has gone on in 2007 – the year I plan to take over the world……work-wise things are looking up. But it is only 9.14 am so there is a far way to fall. Onto better stuff….. My lacrosse tournament went very well (thanks in part to both last weeks friends of the week, this week and also next weeks!). I pressed the flesh, boozed and smoozed, and actually watched a bit of lacrosse!!

Netball – oh yeah baby. Another win on Tuesday night. Tony managed to find a 6ft chick and yes, she was blonde and skinny and hot, but more importantly she could play! She was like the female version of Cam. Unfortunately for us the other team also had a 6ft chick, but she was not skinny or in anyway hot. Luckily Em managed to keep her under wraps (and give her a nice hip and shoulder at one point), so the banana’s came out on top! If we make the grand final I am going to get Charlie to dress up in a Banana suit and come along as our mascot!

Friend of the Week – Melissa Meehan. Again with the lacrosse tournament! Along with just being a totally awesome friend, Mel also helped me out with the LAX tournament by designing the logo. She is an awesome designer, who is hugely talent and underused at FCB, and did heaps of work for me on this one without getting paid or anything. Not only did she design the tournament logo, but also the logo for the Australian team.

The pic is from our Christmas party - Mel and I pretty much organised the whole thing, and it was the best party FCB has seen in years. There is no way that it would have been so good without her input - she picked the place, did the decroations and on the night was on top of everything. For all the shite that goes on at my work, with Mel I know I have found an great friend who I will know forever, so working here has been worthwhile if only for that fact!

Love you Mel - you offically rock! You are the Friend of the Week - so live it up!

Goodbye 2006

So 2006 has been a big year. It has been the year of my quarter life crisis (turning 25 for the second time will do that to you). It has been the year that all my plans went astray due to a certain leg being broken in two places. It has been the year I finally moved out of home, and possibly the year that I grew up.

So in true NYE tradition I am going to make some resolutions that I probably wont keep, but will feel better heading into tonight for having made them.....

1) I will lose 5 kilos
2) I will not say no cos I am scared
3) I will only say yes to the things I actually want to do
4) I will save some money
5) I will choose what I do carefully and give everything I choose 100%
6) I will stop being such a control freak

and most important of all

In 2007 I will take over the world (one website at a time).
